I big shout to Doggies at The Beach for taking such good care of my little Diva, Miss Addy. Doggies at the beach is a 3,500 square foot indoor, cage free doggie day care. It is Miss Addy’s home away from home. While visiting Doggies at the Beach she met Santa. I know what her expression is telling me, but I am glad she went along with the program. Doggies at The Beach is located at 18806 J. Williams Hwy. in Rehoboth Beach. Tel. 302-644-8200. They have 24 hour human supervision and even web cams so that you can follow your precious pooch. This would be a great stocking stuffer for your dog. Your pooch will love these Tail Bangers made with whole wheat flour, rolled oats, eggs, canola oil, fresh ground peanuts, honey, cinnamon, with a vanilla yogurt coating. Another perfect gift….a book, the perfect companion. Truddi Chase was from Maryland. Her story was made into a movie years ago, base on her first book When Rabbit Howls. The movie was called Voices Within: The Lives of Truddi Chase. It was an autobiography about her experiences after being diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. Truddi was interviewed by Oprah. Her story is a fascinating one of survival after been sexually abuse from age two. She coped by developing 92 personalities. She never integrated them so she lived with them all of her life until she died in 2010. Her second book has just come out thanks to her daughter, Kari, who lives in Lewes. It just happened to me, so this post is so, how shall I say it, “apropos”? You go away from your immediate surroundings and things just happen. Oh, I forgot to tell you that I took a trip to Delray Beach, Florida. My neighbor asked “not hot enough here, in Delaware, for you?”
South Florida is not, at the present time, the sunshine state. Actually, it is pouring and so far the car did not start; AAA, here in not time and car left on a flat bed. Computer? Not connected to the internet, why would it? So, that’s why it has taken so long to post. Weather? Hot and humid, but I did not expect it any different.
Quiet, though. The Village by the Sea is in its Second Season; I like it that way.

Rehoboth Auto Repair – Located at 20669 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. This is called the Forgotten Mile; right between Rehoboth and Dewey Beach on Rt. 1. Tel. 302-227-0633. Brakes, road service, tune ups…it is a full service shop. Mary is usually at the phone. You know what so great about them? When you call, it is when do you want to come in, not, well, we can’t take care of you until next week. They open 7 days a week; reasonable too.
Lewes Body Works – Located at 16205 New Road, Lewes, DE 19958. Tel. 302-645-5595. Website? www.lewesbodyworks.com. This company’s expertise is automotive collision repair. The owner is Richard Perez. He is great: fast and dependable. From small to very big jobs. The site is immaculate. Very professional.
By the way, it is the only shop of this type that has a gorgeous koi pond. It puts you at ease immediatly. Good idea Richard; it is traumatic enough having to have this type of work done on your car.
Rehoboth Home Services – Located in Rehoboth Beach, but doing work up and down the Delmarva Peninsula. Haven’t you seen the pink and green trucks driving around? I just used them for junk removal. Slow performance, data recovery, lessons, custom built PC’s, upgrades, wireless set-up and networking. I have used Tim for years and I am happy to recommend him.

I knew Doggies at the Beach was the place for Addy, when I picked her up after her first trial stay and they said: “Addy just had a cannoli.”
I have mentioned before that Addy is my “rescue”. After many years of not owning a dog I decided it was time. Dogs give so much back. I wanted her to have her “forever” home. I cannot imagine what experiences she must have had. I consider her a survivor.
After researching local rescue organizations, I decided to go to a meet and greet held by Paws of Tomorrow, located in Ocean View, Delaware. Ocean View is west of Bethany Beach. The next thing I needed to find out was a boarding facility. I wanted to be able to leave her where she would be safe and well cared for. Renee, who has 2 dogs told me about Doggies at the Beach. It is a cage free facility and that was so important. Also worth mentioning is that the dogs have 24 hour human supervision. After Addy had been moved around and in different cages, I did not want her to be in a cage again. I owed her that much.

Another important feature of Doggies at the Beach is that you can follow your dog’s activities on the computer. Yes, they do have a camera.

I first took Addy for a temperament evaluation. What? This angel? She passed. Thank God. It is a free cage environment. There is a reason for the evaluation.

At present, they have just started Training Classes. The trainer is Nicole. Excellent training credentials.
Puppy Only Training class 6/1 – 6/29 on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
Doggie Training class (over one year) 6/1 – 6/29 Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
I was picking up Addy around this time and the pictures are from the training class in progress.
Dog Days of Summer will be Sunday, June 26th, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pottery Place Parking Lot at 201717 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach.
