All of a sudden, it turned on its side….

dscn8647

The Seaside Nature Center has a cute store too.  I am sure kids go crazy; lots of neat things to buy.

What’s Going On?, Lewes, Delaware, Special Events, Tonight, Tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday, October 27th through October 30th, Delaware Beaches

It has been a long time since those days when “fire protection consisted of leather buckets and a town bell to alert citizens of a fire in the community”.

img_7981

Tonight, Thursday, October 27th, if you are planning to dine out, please consider going to the Wharf Restaurant, located at 7 Anglers Rd. in Lewes, right there by the bridge.

img_7979

It is a Fundraising Event for the Lewes Fire Dept./Station 82.  10% of all food proceeds will be donated to the Lewes Fire Dept.  It is a great cause.  The Fire Dept. is there when you need them the most.

Just go and have something to eat, but, make sure you tell your server that you are there in support of the Lewes Fire Dept.  Thanks!!

Friday and Saturday – October 28th and October 29th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 30th from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

img_7983

Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th – Halloween with the Alpacas.  It is the first event for this farm located at 17219 Sweetbriar Rd., Lewes.  It will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

img_7878

I visited this farm just recently.  If you would like to see pictures and read my post, please click on the month of October, on the left hand side of my website, and scroll down to the 19th.

img_7798

There will be trick or treats, spinning, dying and just plain fun.  Check them out.

There is not date for this one.  I think it is pretty much available all the time; more so in the summer.  At present, just ask to see if they have all the ingredients.

Lewes is the home of Agave.  It is a really good Mexican Restaurant, right on 137 2nd St.  Tel. 302-645-1232.

img_7992

I was there on Tuesday and one of my fellow diners ordered an Avocado Martini.  Caramba!! I thought.  Well when it came, I thought it looked beautiful.  Apparently, the avocado is strained to get the juice then, lime, cilantro and vodka!!  I found that the taste was clean, refreshing and light.  That’s not salt on the rim; it is sugar!!

Hey….talk to you later…have a great day!!

Out & About, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes, Delaware Beaches

“In 1682 one of the most significant milestones occured, when the current lands of the State of Delaware were granted to William Penn.  He proclaimed that Cape Henlopen and its natural resources were to be for the common usage of the citizens of Lewes and Sussex County, thus establishing some of the first “public lands”.”

With that in mind and being that it was late in the p.m., Marisa and I took off from downtown Rehoboth Beach towards Cape Henlopen State Park.

Cape Henlopen State Park is located at 15099 Cape Henlopen Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.  Just east of the Cape May Lewes Ferry.  It does not take long to get there from Rehoboth, especially at this time of the year.

The Park is open 7 days a week until 4 p.m.   The fees are $4 for registered Delaware vehicles and $8 for out of state cars.  This fees are in effect until November 30th.  If you would like more info., please visit www.destateparks.com/park/cape-henlopen.

Just like the Greyhounds were lounging at the beach in Rehoboth, the deer were out and about in the Park.  It was amazing to see that they were totally unafraid.  I was so near this young one; I practically could touch it.

img_7509

The other ones were grazing or just hanging.

img_7530

img_7529

As we continued through the Park we stopped at the concession area.  I always take the picture walking towards the beach.  I love how it looks with the water meeting me at the end.

img_7527

It was quiet and gorgeous, as usual.

img_7521

img_7524

The point was busy and windy, as well.  The kiteboarders were having a ball.
