A couple of weeks ago my friend, Sharon, and I stopped by Ish. This boutique is located at 3408 Coastal Hwy., Ocean City, MD 21842. Website? http://www.ishshop.com
The owner of Ish is Christina Lawson. A very dedicated and fun young woman who is taking this boutique to a different level. It is basically, a women’s boutique but she has a little bit for everyone….almost every woman could find something here for her, for the home, gifts and even for babies.
Here is Christina with my friend, Sharon. It was the opening for the 2019 season. Ish is opening in a few weeks in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware at 403 Rehoboth Ave. Already, as I drive by the store in Rehoboth it looks like it is getting ready. The light and airy lifestyle of our beaches is something that will be seen throughout the store.
Make sure you check out the website because they do offer online shopping.
Look at some of the things we found at Ish in Ocean City.
Over the years I have always said that there is nothing better than the personal touch of a boutique. Stay in touch and keep because I believe the opening is the week-end of May 3rd.
Anyway, at least stop by and say hello. You will fall in love with her.
Until next time….I hope your Easter Sunday is grand.

In 2006 Rooster’s Nest opened its doors and it has become a must stop kind of a shop. It is located at the Bayville Shopping Center on 37244 Lighthouse Rd., #108 in West Fenwick Island. Easy to get to from all Delaware Beaches and Ocean City, Maryland. Tel 302-436-1848. Website? http://www.roostersnest.com.
The Propietors are Sally Welsh and Bill Shoemaker. You can find find gifts, home furnishing and one of a kind pieces. All under one roof with very good price points.
So the other day I took a trip from Rehoboth to see what they were showing for Easter. Weather is getting warmer, thank God, and Spring is here!! That means a lot of us might want to refresh that certain room in the house, or buy something for friends’ birthdays; plenty of weddings are coming up. Sally told me that they had just finished redoing the store. The calm colors on the walls and the repositioning of furniture, it actually, makes it look bigger. They have so many neat things.
Sally pointed to me these birdhouses she had just gotten in. And the little shoes that could be displayed in so many ways.
Love the forever greenery. This is new to the store.
Paper placemats and table runners. Are they are trend or are they here to stay? They are sold in pads and there is so much to choose from for every occasion. They look great and they are not that expensive, either. You can use them daily, for small gatherings or big affairs. And, they can transform a table from boring to super fun and elegant, as well. And when finished, just throw them away. Rooster’s Nest has some really fun ones. They also have table runners.
Rooster’s Nest has a new line of bags….Katie Loxton from London. So affordable. Good looking too. Fun, small bags that convey a message to a special friend, a mother, and for bridesmaids.
I toured the store with nothing in mind to buy but ended up getting a few things. You cannot resist the tempetation. Love the colors of blues for the summer.
The line of jewelry by Julie Vos is beautiful. It is a little bit more pricey and the reason for that is that they are made of semi-precious stones, pearls and imported glass. It is hand-set in 24k gold plate so it will not tarnish. Made in the U.S.A. The right accessory can make of break an outfit. Keep that in mind.
Wishing you a very Happy Easter!!

I am not sure if you are ready for shopping or not, but stores are open. Historic Charleston offers great shopping for everyone. If your husband decides that shopping is not his cup of tea on this trip, there are a few places you can park him.
Or if you are traveling with your pooch….have your husband or significant other take him to the dog park and meet other Charleston dogs, while you engage in something a little more interesting.
C’est La Vie of Charleston we found on 108 N. Market St. Tel. 843-212-5744. The owner opened the store last year and is ready for the prime months that Historic Charleston offers its visitors. Good weather, plenty of restaurants, history, shopping….the town, I hear is starting to bloom. You can find C’est La Vie of Charleston on Facebook. Check it out because you can get 10% off purchases until 3/17.
The shopkeepers of Historic Charleston deserve a shout; so friendly!!….Shopping in local boutiques is what I usually like to do. Individual attention is what we want. No rush, please.
The store is eclectic in the sense that you can find gifts for someone special, or just something to thank a friend. Having a party? Cards, napkins, place cards, cups for an event, or just because.
We fell in love with these beads. They are called Chew Beads. They are perfect for the summer. We just did not realize that they are also chewing beads for your little ones. Mothers, grandmothers you can be in style with these ones.
It’s springtime and time to refresh, or update.
If you think about it all boutiques are shops, but not all shops are boutiques. C’est La Vie of Charleston is unique and local!! Stop by and say hello.
Have a good one.

I want you to meet Petey. This is the hardest working pooch in all Historic Berlin, Maryland. His place of work? NEST, located at 11 S. Main St. Tel. 410-629-1030. From the moment you enter NEST he greets you with a certain look. He follows you around. I am not sure if he wants to see if you are really going to buy something, if you had heard about him, or if you are going to pet him. He really has the run of the store. He is quiet, discreet and just sooo cute.
Dee is the proprietor of this very eclectic shop. She is a multi-talented woman, wearing many hats. At the store, Dee is part of that group of shopkeepers that make you feel so comfortable from the moment you meet her.
My friend, Susan, and I decided to visit Berlin on Wednesday. The Historic town of Berlin is about 45 minutes from Rehoboth Beach. At this time of the year you get there in no time. Plus, it is a nice drive. NEST was one of the first stores we visited and it has great finds.
Dee also sews beautiful totes with contrasting colors, all lined, and with pockets.
She opens year-round and her merchandise changes constantly.
What is Kantha? The quilts which are handmade in India using cotton sari scraps are repurposed into modern accessories.
On Friday, 12/14, is the 2nd Friday Art Stroll when shops are open late and galleries hold receptions from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Every Friday in December, please join NEST from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Burley Oak Brewery, located at 10016 Old Ocean City Blvd., in Berlin, for a handcrafted beer and a taste of NEST eclectic selection of gifts.
Have a good one!! Talk to you later.

Among the shops that line up Main Street in the historic town of Berlin, Maryland you will find a new shop called NEST. This shop is only new to the Main Street area but NEST has now been in business for some time. Change of location but same concept.
NEST is located at 11 South Main St., Berlin, Maryland, 21811. The location is right across the street from the new Chamber of Commerce. Tel. 410-629-1030. E-mail nest.berlin@gmail.com. It opens Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 Noon until 4 p.m.
Just like all the other shopkeepers that abound in Berlin, Dee, welcomes you with a nice smile. Throughout the shop you will find niches of vintage treasures, local art, housewares, home accents, and decorative items.
There is a lot to take in, so make sure you take your time in strolling through her shop. Dee is more than willing to inform you where each piece has come from in detail, whether it is an antique or a work of art.
NEST is a definitely an eclectic store; you can find surprises in every corner.
Dee is also known for her artistic talents. I saw that in the store already some of her Old World Santas have made an appearance. These santas are handsculpted by Dee. She uses dry clay; the faces are painted in acrylic. They are collectibles and very much sought after. Vintage fabrics are utilized for their clothing, as well. Call the store for more information or if you would like to place an order.
Dee is a seamstress, as well. She makes colorful aprons with contrasting fabrics that are really cute. Custom bags are on display at NEST, as well. They have great fabric color combinations and textures; the patterns and colors changing with the seasons.
As I was chatting away, earrings caught my eye. Vey cute and made by Lex.
This is the perfect time of the year to stroll through Berlin. There is something about it….yes, it is pretty!!
“A NEST is a place of refuge to hold an animal’s eggs and/or to provide a place to live or raise offsprings. They are usually made of some organic material such as twigs, grass and leaves.”
As I first stepped into this charming and eclectic shop I got the feeling that I was being nurtured. I felt good about it. I don’t know if it was Dee or Hannah. They are the mother and daughter duo that are the shopkeepers. They are both so friendly and I have known them for quite some time. You know, school in Berlin, children the same ages, lacrosse and on and on. The friendships that are made in the formative years of our children are definitely, keepers.
NEST is located on 116 Broad Street, Suite 3 in Berlin, MD 21811. Tel. 410-629-1030. E-mail address is nest.berlin@gmail.com. You can also find NEST on Facebook.
NEST is open 7 days a week with plenty of street parking. Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.
From Rehoboth Beach it takes about 45 minutes to get to Berlin. Not far at all from Ocean City. I have found that the town of Berlin looks great. People are out and about, the stores are well stocked, the restaurants are crowded and serving a variety of foods for all kinds of discriminating palates.
NEST is not a big store but Dee and Hannah have chosen so many neat things to make it unique.
The store opened in September of 2010. Dee is well known for her Santas. She probably did not notice that one caught my eye. Tucked away in a corner, waiting for the month where he will truly shine. All handmade with gorgeous materials.
Here are a few others that I was lucky to see some time ago.
As you enter NEST the Tibetan pillows are the first burst of color that capture your eyes. Soft and beautiful.
Dee loves to sew. She told me so. Her aprons have great color combinations.
She also makes the boppyowl handbags. Fine quality fabrics; plenty of pockets and just perfect for the summer. They can also be given as a present to a new mother.
Antique willow trunks from China.
Or, maybe the 19th century Delaware blue milk paint stepback cupboard.
The woman’s face. The pillows are all from Jude Robinson. Jude is from Snow Hill, Maryland.
The landscapes on the walls are by John Sauers from Darlington, Maryland.
The animal paintings are from Beverly Lynch, Newark, Maryland.
The Rooster paintings and pig drawing are from Caryn Strauser, Baltimore, Maryland.
There is jewelry and earrings by Lex.
And, then there is the String Doll Gang. The string dolls appeared on the markets of Thailand in 2004. They are made out of one single strand of string. Since then a whole cottage industry has sprung. Each has a special good-luck power that is written on a fabric tag. The Designer? Kamibashi, which maintains fair trade practices.
Outdoor carpets, napkins and placemats.
Vases, serving pieces, keepsake boxes and a variety of lamps.
Conversation pieces?
And then, there is Pete. The mascot. You cannot help but fall in love with him. He is part of that nesting, nurturing kind of feeling, as well.
So, there you have it. Stop by and say hello to Dee and Hannah. Once you meet them, you will think you have known them forever.
The other day I got an email announcing the grand opening of a new boutique in Rehoboth Beach. I love to hear of new places opening up. The opening was yesterday, Friday; the busiest day of the Holiday Season.
Jane & Georgie is located at 419 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Website is www.janeandgeorgie.com. The owners? Kate Chambers, 302-245-7182 and Lisa Thomson, 302-228-6775. They are sisters!!
And you are probably wondering what’s with the name. Grandparents that’s who they were, which both sisters remember with great love and admiration. They both had a unique sense of style. Kate and Lisa decided to dedicate their new venture to them.
The shop is easy to find; right near the roundabout in Rehoboth Beach.
I did not know what I was going to find, but then I saw Kate. This sister, I had met before. She has been in the retail business now for quite some time. I was so glad to see her and she told me that they had started thinking about doing something like this months ago; voila!, they are in business now.
It is really a store for women. They are still getting merchandise in and they will be getting some apparel for children, as well.
At this time of the year the store opened up in a festive mood. The tree and the lights complemented the dresses first seen as you approached the door.
Jewelry, clutches, accessories, very pretty dresses, blouses, shirts, scarves and just about anything we women enjoy to shop for.
Jane & Georgie will be carrying jeans; one of the brands is James Jeans. That company is based in LA and supposedly they have created the perfect fitting jeans to hide ones flaws. Music to my ears!!
The classic jelly ballet flat shoes with peep toe were from a company called Melissa Shoes. The summer clutch was from Elaine Turner.
Clothing designers available are Elizabeth McKay, Soshana, Tibi, and Butter by Nadia.
The trendy triple leather bracelets were by Vita Fede and made in Italy.
Now that the cooler weather has arrived, the store also had plenty of scarves; some linen, some cashmere and some ruffled.
An important accessory for a woman is the jewelry she wears. Jane & Georgie has plenty. Lauren G. Adams has X Rings, which are stackables and offers plenty of color selections. Her flower necklaces are also very popular.
Then there is Kenneth Jay Lane, which is a company based in N.Y. He is kown for being elegant and innovative.
So I have offered you a peak into a new boutique in Rehoboth Beach. You will love Kate and Lisa. At the present time the shop opens every day.
Please note that Jane & Georgie are on Facebook and Twitter. Also, please check their website; very nice.
Have a great Holiday Shopping Season!!! Talk to you later…
I keep going back to this particular boutique in Lewes, that historic town that I also mention here and there. All you have to do is visit it once and you will be hooked.
Aqua Marine is located at 114 Second St., Tel. 302-644-4550. The shopkeeper is Maureen Botti. Her helper? Her mother!!
Well, I think Maureen and her mother are one of the reasons I visit the store frequently. Their friendly disposition is a winning situation. When I wrote a post on Aqua Marine on May 15th I mentioned that I really enjoyed watching Maureen and her mother deal with their customers. There is an instant connection that you can tell will last a long time. By the way, if you want to see that post just click on the month of May under Archives on the left hand side of this blog and scroll down to the date.
This is a new location for Aqua Marine, but the boutique opened in 2006.
It is the perfect setting being that Second Street in Lewes is actually the Main Street, where lots of cute stores and great restaurants abound.
The casual atmosphere of the beaches is something we love; Aqua Marine carries that type of clothing; relaxed, yet sophisticated at the same time.
Christopher Blue’s new line “worn” has affordable cords, and a great fit!!
Another brand carried is Magaschoni Cashmere. And, lots and lots of scarves; all colors, fabric and price points.
The weather is changing; a little cooler; it was great to see what’s new for the coming season.
Even though I refer to these kinds of posts “for women only”, men should not be intimidated by these boutiques. Usually the owners are more than happy to give you a helping hand.
Talk to you later…..have a great one….
