Pomodoro Pizzeria, Bethany Beach, Delaware, Delaware Beaches

Over the years, I have heard people tell me Pomodoro is the best pizza at the beaches. Finally, a couple of weeks ago after attending the Alpaca Festival a stop was a necessity.

Pomodoro is located at 101 Garfield Pkwy. In Downtown Bethany Beach. Perfect time of the year to visit since no more meters to feed?.

We just wanted a couple of slices. A couple that were habitual customers were amazed we had never been. During height of the season if you want an evening pizza you better call early in the day. 302-537-1359.

I is a small place. Take your pizza “pies” and enjoy them on a bench outside as you watch people go by.

The crust is amazing. Everything I had heard about Pomodoro is true. I had a slice of the Margherita which quickly became my favorite.

Everyone else loved their slices, as well including my foodie granddaughter, Sophia.

They open at 11 and they close on Monday.

Blue Moon, Restaurant, Bar, Entertainment Venue, Downtown Rehoboth Beach, The Atrium, Delaware Beaches

Blue Moon is one of those iconic places in Rehoboth Beach that checks all the boxes. Great food, love the atmosphere, excellent service, entertainment that you would want to come for more.

Love The Atrium, Bar and high tops. Two piano players this summer. I love them both. The customers get right into the whole show. More so if you can carry a tune.

Location? 35 Baltimore Avenue.

I order the Tuna Carpaccio all the time.

Next? Mozzarella Burrata…Grilled Mango. How good is that?

Not only did we order Roasted Oysters. We order two of them?

You may not think you would order the Chicken Pot Pie. Think again. It is awesome?? You need to try it.

Very tasty Short Rib Stroganoff. Another good choice.

Stuffed Shrimp, big, perfectly cooked and crabmeat to boot!

Now the “piece of resistance”. Should we do it? Of course we did. The Moon Pie Bomb. I may have felt guilty but not really.

Our Server Juan Perez deserves a big shout❤️

Wishing the best weekend. AboutMyBeaches is on Facebook and Instagram.

The Federal, Restaurant, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Rehoboth Beach Eats, A Bistro

Wow, two visits to The Federal in 2 weeks. That good. It opened in Downtown Rehoboth Beach a few years ago as Federal Fritter. I have to agree that calling it just The Federal is so much better.

It is located at 62A Rehoboth Ave. 302-727-5609.

Introducing friends to The Federal has been fun.

We tried the Crispy Virginia Oyster Fritters and we chose the Lemon Horseradish Aioli for dipping. They were crispy and light.

Going back and forth….what should we have?

A choice of the Softshells as a main course. They did have them as a starter, as well.

I am so glad the House Made Ricotta Gnocchi is kept on the menu. It is delicious. This dish has MD Blue Crab (the best), gulf shrimp, New Bedford scallops, sugar snap peas, pesto cream sauce.

The scallops is another dish that is excellent. Served with sauteed sweet corn, local peaches, and pickled banana peppers.

I decided to go with two starters for my dinner. Brought at the same time.

Chilled Delmarva Sweet Corn Soup with poached gulf shrimp, pickled watermelon, and roasted corn.

Then the Starter offering of the Softshells.

Fresh fruit during the summer…..Yummy tarts with homemade ice cream.

I have to give a shout to Lauren. She was so friendly and knew the menu well.

Summer 2023 as we know it is coming to an end but the next season is my favorite in Southern Delaware.

Harbour Restaurant, Canal Square, Lewes, Delaware, Review, Outdoor Dining, Canalfront, Southern Delaware, Delaware Beaches

Taking an opportunity of a gorgeous day we went for an early dinner to Harbour at Canal Square located at 134 W Market St., Lewes. Tel. 302-200-9500. It opens Wednesday-Sunday. Lunch Friday and Saturday and Brunch on Sunday. Please check:

http://Www.harbourlewes.com

I want their Gazpacho recipe, topped with shrimp. Truly delicious on a summer day.

Crab cakes for me. I would have them again for sure. No fillers and how great tasting they were.

The scallops were a hit. Look how beautiful they were.

Desserts were tempting and we did have them. For me I am a fan of Creme Brûlée.

And a Flourless Chocolate Cake??

Loved it when after dinner I thought that I could not wait to come back.

Always so picturesque in Lewes and Canalfront dining cannot be beat.

Great service as usual?

Have a great week. AboutMyBeaches is on FB and Instagram. Check us out?

Townsend, French Bistro, Restaurant, Review, Philadelphia, Dining Destination

It happened to be a hot and beautiful summer day. Walking around Rittenhouse Square on Sunday was quiet. There were plenty of people sitting out, enjoying the end of the weekend.

Dinner would be at Townsend EPX, located at 1623 E Passyunk Ave., Philadelphia. 267-534-4175.

//Www.thetwrg.com

Chef Townsend Wentz has achieved many accolades. This is his French restaurant but he also has an Italian one and a Spanish one. All highly acclaimed. Click on the link to know more.

Philadelphia is known for its food and plenty of restaurants to satisfy discerning palates.

Townsend is intimate. Not too many tables, perfect for conversation.

As you come in there is a bar and a couple of tables at the bar. The main dining room is down a bit.

You may order A la Carte or from their Tasting Menu. Regarding the Tasting Menu the whole table will need to participate.

A la Carte for us please. We started with a Seared Foie Gras. A strawberry compote using a 30 year Balsamic on grilled sourdough. Just looking at this photo now a month later is making my mouth water.

When I see grilled octopus on a menu I usually order it. Over the years I have found some particularly tasty ones and this one did not disappoint. Had a tomato salad, herb Creme Fraiche, squid ink tuile and sauce daube. A tuile is a traditional French water biscuit. You see it on the photo, dark and lace like. A daube sauce is a stew sauce.

The roasted duck had potato pave, shiitake mushrooms, English peas, and a sauce au poivre. A potato pave is a more refined version of scallop potatoes. Devine it was??

A fan of the Mediterranean Branzino. Always so good wether served whole or fillet. At Townsend it was grilled served over a basil couscous salad, preserved lemon aioli and a pomegranate reduction. Simple and great tasting flavor.

A Creme Brûlée that was very well received. Orange supremes and raspberry jam.

Trying for the first time a Pavlova. This dessert was named after the famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. It is like a meringue cake made of whipped egg whites and sugar. Light and crisp on the outside and a little chewy. The middle like an airy marshmallow. Their version was beautifully presented.

The next time in Philly I hope you get to try it. You will not be disappointed.

Flavor of India, Dover, Delaware, Restaurant, Review, Northern Indian Cuisine, Southern Delaware, Kent County

AboutMyBeaches turns 14 today. I started the blog to showcase places like Flavor of India. Those unique places. I consider the blog my diary. I can write about far away places or places close to home and in my backyard. ??

Flavor of India has become a favorite. I think I wrote about them for the first time in 2011. It is located at 348 North Dupont Hwy. in Dover. Phone 302-677-0121. They open 7 days a week, offering a buffet for lunch only.

It is next to a liquor store and a Motel 8 but don’t let that discourage you. Take out is available too.

I arrived early but it filled up pretty soon. Tablecloths, so clean and good service. The buffet was set up but I ordered from the menu since I like goat and they don’t offer it on the buffet.

My choice was the Goat Pasanda. It is cooked in Indian spices, with a cashew nut gravy. Medium heat for me. Basmati Rice, of course. A traditional Naan too.

It was delicious. The goat has some bones but that’s the way it is served. The Naan paired well with the gravy.

The restaurant offers wine and beer.

For dessert I always order Gajar Halwa. This is a carrot based sweet dessert pudding made by placing grated carrots in a pot containing water, milk, and sugar, cardamon and then cooking by stirring. It was served with a garnish of almonds and pistachios. Served warm.

All in all a nice lunch while celebrating the 14th anniversary of AboutMyBeaches.? AboutMyBeaches is on Instagram and Facebook.

If you want to check out the other posts on Flavor of India just put the name on the search.

Agave, Mexican Restaurant, Bethany Blues, Restaurant, Music Venue, Lewes, Delaware, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

Out and About Friday night. Not the best weather. Checking out what’s going on in Lewes. Great to see people walking regardless of the weather.

First stop? Agave located at 137 2nd St. This is, actually, Main Street in Lewes.

Agave has been in Lewes for many years and this is the first location and my personal favorite. There is background music, people are talking. It is cozy and fun. Favorite spot to take a seat is the bar. Lots of action there. It is a busy place. They open at lunch.

Two favorite drinks I truly love here. The Avocado Martini, and their traditional Margarita. Salt too please.

Tonight I chose their original margarita. It is so good.

It goes great with my Avocado and Mango Salad with some skirt steak to make it a full dinner.

Tommy decided to get a Pomegranate Margarita to accompany his Guacamole. They do make the best guacamole in town.

Have you had their Puffy Tacos? The tacos become puffy when the corn tortilla is deep fried. The water in the masa expands. I like them.

Tommy’s Puffy Fish Tacos were very good and doggie bag was requested. And there is his Pomegranate Margarita ?

Completely satisfied we continued on our Friday stroll.

People scream for Ice cream. There was a line for Kings Ice Cream. There is always one.

Next Stop? Bethany Blues on Coastal Highway. Great music this weekend. The venue for live music is perfect. Last night two bands but tonight starting at 8:30 is Roger Girke and The Wondering Souls. You can eat, drink and dance all in one place.

Have fun whatever you are doing. Relax, you are at the beach. Slow down and enjoy the moment.

Bon Appetit, Restaurant, Seaford, Delaware, French Food, The Food Gem of Western Sussex

It is going to be raining all week in Sussex County but a bright spot will be Bon Appetit, 312 Height St., Seaford, DE. Please don’t think I am not driving to Seaford. From Rehoboth Beach is about 45 minutes. But it beats sitting in beach traffic. And, plus you will get an amazing dinner.

T Cooper who was raised in Seaford introduced me to this restaurant. I have been dying to go back and last night we took off leaving behind the beaches for a drive across farmlands until reaching High Street.

The parking lot was full. First Day of Summer felt like Fall. The restaurant was crowded.

Their Motto is “Be our Guest and Eat well.” As you come into the restaurant you feel like being a guest in someone’s home. The photographs, the roses filling a vase and a single rose on each table. And tablecloth draped tables. Those details were not missed by me.

We spoke to Karen, the owner. Chino, her husband was in the kitchen working his magic. A few drinks to start.

The menu changes often but there are some dishes that are always offered because they are so good.

Let’s talk about Butter. Look how beautiful the butter on the table looks. It is one of those details that you can appreciate.

And by the way the French baguettes were warm. Just so you know.?

A traditional Onion Soup always on the menu. TC’s starter. It hit the spot on a rainy night.

I was debating because a few appetizers caught my attention. The Country Pate won. It was perfect. Thinking out loud how pate, French bread and a glass of wine is the best.

One of those dishes I mentioned that are always on the menu is their duck. On this night it was served with a pineapple sauce. TC will have a good lunch today as he enjoys his take home leftovers.

Debating between the rockfish and softshell crabs, our server without hesitation said sofshells. Our server was awesome ; knowing her menu well and maneuvering a restaurant full of diners with ease.

Softshells are my favorites and the first of the season. Very lightly breaded, perfectly seasoned, and pan fried. The best. So sweet. I took my time eating them because I did not want them to end.

Dessert? The Chocolate Mousse won me over but they have more than afew homemade desserts. It was smooth and not overly sweet. That’s how it should be.

I almost forgot to mention another detail. Ever since they opened the restaurant many years ago, every dish is accompanied by a vegetable mousse. It was a detail noticed on my first visit and once again noticed last night.

What can I say to finish my post? “Happiness Is Great Food and Great Company. “ The perfect recipe.

Please note that they will be closing on 7/2 until 7/17. Reopening on 7/18. For reservations please call 302-629-3700.
