Fisher’s Popcorn, Fenwick Island, Delaware, Caramel, Caramel with Peanuts, White Cheddar, Butter Flavor, Caramel Peanut Crunch, Gluten Free!! Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware

DSCN5157DSCN5151

Nothing says “Thank You” better than the biggest can of Fisher’s Popcorn.  I can get it in Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. Website?  http://www.fishers-popcorn.com.

So, if you find yourselves stuck in traffic at the Delaware Beaches…stop and get a container for the road.  It is addictive, though.

DSCN5152

I found myself in Fenwick Island and decided to stop.  I needed a few cans to give in thanksgiving.

I could not help myself, I had to get a smaller container.  It was warm and so delicious.  I bought their original Caramel, but other flavors are just as good:  Caramel with Peanuts, White Cheddar, Butter Flavor, and Caramel Peanut Crunch.  All Gluten Free!!

DSCN5156

Fisher’s Popcorn in Fenwick Island is located at 37081 Coastal Highway.  This is their main location at the Delaware Beaches.

In Bethany Beach, the location is 108 Garfield Parkway.  In Rehoboth Beach, you can find them at 48 Rehoboth Avenue.

And a tip:  If you like warm caramel popcorn, just put some in a bowl and zap it just for a couple of seconds in the microwave.

Fisher’s Popcorn does not add preservatives or added processing.  Only 5 simple ingredients and all popcorn batches are made by hand.  No GMO Pocorn, either!!

Note:  Check the website…they ship and it is the perfect gift for the Holidays.

Have a Good One!!

What’s Going On? Rehoboth Beach, Activities, Events, Entertainment, Delaware Beaches, Southern Delaware…Visit & Stay Awhile!!

dscn7273

I could tell that it was August because Staples was packed…this is their Christmas when everyone is ready to go back to school.  Rehoboth Beach is open year-round and even though the summer of 2013 might be coming to an end, this town is just getting started.  There is still time to think about all the festivals and the comings and goings of this coastal town….stay tuned for that.

In the meantime…..What’s Going On?

Friday, 8/9 – Clear Space Theatre Company is inviting you to join them on Friday, 8/9, for 2 FREE matinee performances at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  WICKED will be presented by the talented students in their Musical Theatre Summer Intensive Program.  Location? 20 Baltimore Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-227-2270.  Website?  http://www.clearspacetheatre.org.

Until 2014 – If you love Rehoboth Beach, you should stop by and visit the Rehoboth Beach Museum.  It is an easy museum to navigate and you will still have plenty of time to hit the beach, shops, and restaurants.  You can learn how Rehoboth Beach was then and how it has developed during these years.  The present exhibit is “Beach Eats”.  Rehoboth Beach is a dining destination, as well, and the exhibit celebrates over 100 years of eating in Rehoboth Beach, from the grub to the fine dining.  For more information please visit http://www.rehobothbeachmuseum.org.

dscn7280

If you have been coming to the beach, you know that August is so busy….and parking can be a hair raising experience.  So, for the 40th Annual Outdoor Fine Art & Fine Crafts Show this is what you should do:

dscn7246

Since the parking in Henlopen Acres is very limited, the Art League is suggesting you use the Jolly Trolley.  Two convenient locations:  Park your car at either the Kmart on Rt. 1 or at the Rehoboth Beach ElementarySchool at 500 Stockley Avenue.  The shuttle will begin running at 9:45 a.m. and will be making continuous loops to the Outdoor Show.  I have used it and recommend it.

dscn7235

If you decide to venture and park in Henlopen Acres, please be considerate of the residents.  Adhere to parking restrictions, including no parking on the street. Unless there is a “No Parking” sign, all vehicles must park on the grass with tires off the pavement.  Yes, you heard me right and I write this too from experience.

dscn7279

For the 2 week-ends of the show, Henlopen Acres’ Dodd’s Lane, beginning at the instersection of Rolling Rd. and Tidewaters, from Dodd’s Lane to Zwaanendael, will be  temporarily one way street.  Visitors will be entering Henlopen Acres by making a left off of Columbia Avenue and exiting Henlopen Acres across from Rehoboth Beach’s Surf Avenue.

dscn7251

Saturday, 8/10 –  Opening Reception for artist Michael Krausz from 6 – 9 p.m.  A benefit for AIDS DE, 6 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.  It is the 5th Annual Silent Art Auction at Gallery 50, located at 50B Wilmington Avenue in Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  Tel. 302-227-2050.  Website?  http://www.50contemporaryart.com.

Have a great week-end!!

Discover Southern Delaware, Massey’s Landing, Fishing, Boating, Long Neck, Delaware Beaches, Sussex County

dscn4523

At times I like to get in my car and making sure I have a good cup of coffee on hand, I take off to check out the country side.

Did you know that Delaware is 42% farmland?  I know, you probably just come to the beaches, but for the ones that have chosen to live in Southern Delaware, the beaches, the parks, and the farms are home.

dscn4544

Open spaces, that’s what I love.  It feels like you can breath.  Taking in the scenery and driving towards Massey’s Landing, some of the abandoned barns could probably tell many stories.  They still stand strong but their time is over.

dscn4537

dscn4542

Massey’s Landing is located on the north shore of Long Neck, where Indian River and Rehoboth Bay meet.  It is pretty easy to get there.  Coming from the Delaware Beaches take Rt. 24 or John J. Williams Highway and drive to Rt. 23 (Long Neck).  Take that left and continue all the way in.  Just remember to take in the scenery.

Massey’s Landing is run by Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife (DNREC).  The location is at the far eastern tip of Long Neck.

dscn4535

You will find public boat ramps, a fishing pier and basin.  It has good lighting and plenty of parking.

dscn4528

dscn4527

dscn4621

So, I asked a guy that was fishing on the rocks.  He is the one on my first photo.  What’s the name of the island across Massey’s?  Don’t know, he replied.  But, he continued, you should see the wild animals coming out of it.  The deer cross over Massey’s Ditch and come to the landing to feed.  Plenty of birds also on the island.

dscn4526

A man from a truck said is was Burton’s Island.  And, between Massey’s Landing and the island is Massey’s Ditch.  It runs fast and it has dramatic tidal shifts throughout the day.

So, if you are staying at the beaches, just remember than on a pretty day, is always nice to get out for a little discovering of Southern Delaware.  Perfect setting for photographers and bird watchers.

Parc, Restaurant, Bistro, Cafe, Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Steak Tartare, Chicken Liver Parfait, Heirloom Tomato Salad, Trout Amandine, Coq Au Vin!!

dscn5130

When it is sunny in Philadelphia the visitors and residents really come out to enjoy the beautiful weather.  Sunny skies, low humidity, and cooler temperatures, that’s what everyone in the city was enjoying on Sunday.

dscn5129

Parc is one of those restaurants that sit overlooking the square.  Outdoor dining in a cafe atmosphere…great music playing in the background.

Parc is located at 227 S. 18th St, at Locust St., Philadelphia,  19103.  Tel. 215-545-2262. Website?  http://www.parc-restaurant.com.  Parc is also part of Starr Restaurant Group.

It was late in the afternoon, but nevertheless, Parc was crowded and still serving lunch.  They open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday Brunch.

The bread is baked in-house and smelled delicious.  Since I have been eating gluten free, I have almost forgotten how dense bread really can be.

dscn5120

A few appetizers were ordered:

The Steak Tartare was made with chopped filet, capers and a quail egg on top.

dscn5121

This appetizer is one of my favorites at Parc.  Chicken Liver Parfait with red wine gelee.  It is a filling appetizer, perfect for sharing, as well.  I didn’t, but you know what I mean.

dscn5122

An Heirloom Tomato Salad offered the taste of summer!!

dscn5124

Our server mentioned that he loved the Trout Amandine with Haricots Verts, and lemon brown butter.  And he was right….delicious!

dscn5126

I decided on the Sunday Special.  I think the Coq Au Vin makes its appearance at Parc every Sunday…so if you are there, I recommend it.  It is so tasty and it really falls off the bone.

dscn5128

Parc offers wonderful desserts, but to tell you the truth we were totally satisfied…..so a little walk it was all that was needed.

Talk to you later.

Loving a Good Summer Cider, Stella Artois, Cidre, Gluten Free, Cheese, Morgan and Gower, Rehoboth Beach, Perfect for August, 2013, Delaware Beaches

dscn4933

Nothing better than a cool, crisp, and refreshing drink on a hot summer day!!  Ciders are easy to drink, and delicately balanced.

Apples, peaches, and apricots give Stella Artois new “Cidre” that crisp and refreshing taste.  It is naturally Gluten Free!

This new “cidre” with Belgian roots was presented this spring by Stella Artois.  You can find Stella Artois Cidre on Facebook.

Sit on your patio and pair the “cidre” with your favorite cheeses….which by the way, mine would be from Morgan & Gower Cheesemongers located on 20 Baltimore Ave. in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Have a great day!!
