What’s Going On?, Delray Beach, Florida, Entertainment, GreenMarket, Fundraising Event for Sandoway House Nature Center and Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, Inc., Village by the Sea

I have to tell you that even though our weather, here, at the Delaware Beaches is getting better and better, I know South Florida is experiencing really nice weather at this time of the year.  It was a little cold on a few of my visits; but always warmer than at home.

If you are out and about in Delray Beach, then these are a few things you might want to check out; always something to do in that Village by the Sea.

On February 19th the Delray GreenMarket hosted the 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off.  In case you are interested, they served 100 gallons of chili, 5,000 sample-sized chili cups were used and approximately 500 ballots were casted.

The categories were Traditional Chili, New Age Chili and Vegetarian Chili but they said that if they had had a category for the Most Guilty Pleasures in One Bowl, the prize woud have gone to Nancy Simons and daughter Sally Poe Hackman for their “Lucky Cowboy Chili”.  It was flavored with coffee, chocolate and beer!!!

You can find the Delray Beach GreenMarket on Facebook.

Saturday and Sunday, 3/5 and 3/6 – ‘SWonderful National Tour at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square.  It is a musical review, all singing and dancing.  It celebrates the genius of George and Ira Gershwin.  It incorporates 5 mini musicals inspired by the real events that occurred in and around their lives.

The Crest Theatre is a Cultural Arts Center and National Historic Site.  It is located at 51 N. Swinton.  Tel. is 561-243-7922.  The Saturday performance is at 7:00 p.m. and two performances on Sunday will be at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  The website is www.oldschool.org and you can log onto the site and purchase tickets.
