I want to welcome The Spice & Tea Exchange of Rehoboth. I decided to visit this new kid on the block…the ocean block of Downtown Rehoboth Beach.  It opened its doors about 7 weeks ago.  Love strolling through the streets in Downtown Rehoboth Beach….the shopkeepers are so friendly and very personal.  No rush…it is your time.  The Spice & Tea Exchange is located at 10 Rehoboth Avenue, right by the Bandstand.  Tel. 302-227-3327.  Website? http://www.spiceandtea.com/rehoboth.  The website is very complete.  Everything is very well explained; plenty of recipes are also included.  You can find descriptions of all products.  They also ship.

Please note that if you would like to find the nutritional information, just go on the website and on the right hand side click on it.  You will be provided with all the nutritional info. and also if you have any allergies to wheat, gluten and soy, it will be disclosed.  Seems most everything did not have gluten; some of the powders and blends did.  So please check it out.

This company decided to offer franchising opportunities in 2007.  This is the first one in Delaware.  They are now open every day of the week.

The store flows well; the staff is very helpful.

When I arrived, they were making some custom popcorn seasoning.

The store also carries a wide variety of exotic rice and orzo.

The sugars were gorgeous; and you are to use them as you would any sugar; baking, cereal, on fruit, toast…your choice.

Using the right spice and experimenting with them adds so much to a dish that maybe might have been a little bland.  I had not seen the powders and they really looked interesting.  Again, I asked how you would use them in a recipe and they said they are easily added to your favorite recipe; some could be sprinkled on pastas, soups, etc. etc.

The gourmet sea salts intrigued me.  They were from different parts of the world, mineral and hand-harvested.

The Black Lava was “from the island of Cyprus, dried in lava beds and mixed with activated charcoal”.

Plenty of other unique ones, as well; Bacon, Chocolate, Chipotle, Ghost Pepper, Olive Oil, Pinot Noir!
