Dewey Beach, A Proclamation, A Celebration, Music, The Greaseband…and Non Stop Dancing, Delaware Beaches

“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.”

With that in mind, there was no better place to to listen to music, on Saturday, than at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach.

The Greaseband was the first to perform, early in the afternoon but the Rudder’s deck was packed.  It was a chilly afternoon; some of us felt it, and some others were feeling no pain.

It really was so pretty and the Rusty Rudder sits right on the bay; scenic is the word.

The moment The Greaseband started playing people were dancing. Their music reminisce so many good years of clean, fun music.  The people in attendance were a mix.  Some young; babies in tow and some, well, a little more mature.  I would like to think I was in the middle of the pack with Shelley, Paula, Mike and a few others we met.

I looked at everyone on the deck and every single person was smiling and dancing.  Letting their hair down.  Some let their hair down so much, they were dancing on tables.

The Greaseband has been together for 38 years.  Amazing that they have been able to keep it together for such a long time.  Big following.  This was the first performance of many in Dewey Beach.  Check their website www.greaseband.com.

Then, champagne was served to every one for a toast on Admiral Dewey Day.  A proclamation and a celebration.  In 1981 Rusty Rudder showed up at the Delaware beaches.  A restaurant, a bar and a music venue.  This season promises to be a fun one in Dewey as the Rusty Rudder celebrates all summer long its 30 years.

Have a great day!!  Talk to you later….
